Members of the MIT engineering faculty receive many awards in recognition of their scholarship, service, and overall excellence. The School of Engineering periodically recognizes their achievements by highlighting the honors, prizes, and medals won by faculty working in our academic departments, labs, and centers.
- Polina Anikeeva of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering won the NIH Director's Pioneer Award on Oct. 6.
- Hari Balakrishnan of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science won the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award from SIGCOMM on Aug. 26.
- Lydia Bourouiba of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was named a 2021 Fellow of the American Physical Society on Oct. 13.
- Anantha P. Chandrakasan of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was awarded the 2022 IEEE Mildred Dresselhaus Medal on Nov. 22.
- Katie Galloway of the Department of Chemical Engineering won the NIH Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award on Aug. 2.
- Karen Gleason of the Department of Chemical Engineering won the AIChE Margaret Hutchinson Rousseau Pioneer Award for Lifetime Achievement by a Woman Chemical Engineer on June 30.
- Paula Hammond of the Department of Chemical Engineering won the Black in Cancer Distinguished Investigator Award on Aug. 4.
- Asegun Henry of the Department of Mechanical Engineering won the Bell Labs Prize on Nov. 9.
- Brad Olsen of the Department of Chemical Engineering won the 2021 ACS Macro Letters/Biomacromolecules/Macromolecules Young Investigator Award on June 15.
- Thomas Peacock of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was named a 2021 Fellow of the American Physical Society on Oct. 13.
- Kristala Prather of the Department of Chemical Engineering won the AIChE Andreas Acrivos Award for Professional Progress in Chemical Engineering on June 30.
- Ellen Roche of the Department of Mechanical Engineering won the Nature Research Awards for Inspiring Women in Science - Scientific Achievement Category on Sept. 15.
- Max Shulaker of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was named a 2021 Moore Inventor Fellow on Oct. 4.
- Michael B. Yaffe of the Department of Biological Engineering was elected to the Association of American Physicians on June 30.
- Bildge Yildiz of the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering was named a 2021 fellow of the American Physical Society on Oct. 13.
