The School of Engineering periodically recognizes their achievements by highlighting the honors, prizes, and medals won by faculty and research scientists working in our academic departments, labs, and centers.
- Daniel G. Anderson in the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Institute for Medical Science and Engineering was elected to the National Academy of Medicine on Oct. 9, and to the National Academy of Inventors on Dec. 19.
- Regina Barzilay in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Institute for Medical Science and Engineering was elected to the National Academy of Medicine on Oct. 9.
- Sangeeta Bhatia in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was selected as a Foreign Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering on Oct. 11.
- Michael Birnbaum in the Department of Biological Engineering was selected as a Pew 2023 Innovation Fund investigator on Oct. 24.
- Vincent Chan in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received an IEEE Edison Medal on Dec. 13.
- Yet-Ming Chiang in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering was selected to Time’s 100 on Climate on Nov. 16.
- Connor W. Coley in the Department of Chemical Engineering was named a Samsung AI Researcher of the Year Awardee on Nov. 14.
- James J. Collins in the Department of Biological Engineering and the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science received the 2023 Feynman Prize on Oct. 27.
- James Fujimoto in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation on Oct. 24.
- Ariel Furst in the Department of Chemical Engineering received the National Institutes of Health New Innovator Award on Oct. 5.
- Marzyeh Ghassemi in the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science received the 2023 MIT Prize for Open Data on Oct. 24.
- Jack Hare in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering received a National Science Foundation Career Award on Nov. 11.
- Darrell J. Irvine in the Department of Biological Engineering was elected to the National Academy of Medicine on Oct. 9.
- Jesse Kroll in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering received the Award for Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring on Oct. 13.
- Robert Langer, Institute Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Department of Biological Engineering, received the 2023 Dr. Paul Janssen Award on Dec. 19.
- Bradley Olsen in the Department of Chemical Engineering was named a 2023 Advancing Physics Society Fellow on Oct. 20.
- Ritu Raman in the Department of Mechanical Engineering received a 2024 Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research on Oct. 10.
- Jessica Stark in the Department of Biological Engineering received the Steven A. Rosenberg Scholars Award on Nov. 3.
- Caroline Uhler in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received a National Institutes of Health New Innovator Award on Oct. 4.
